Hickman County High School proudly announces the selection of 4 students to attend the Governors Scholars Program this summer. Sydney Harrison, Ryan Harpole, Makenna Leblanc, and Alex Simmons have all been selected to participate in this prestigious program. These students will attend one of the following colleges this summer; Murray State University, Bellarmine University, or Morehead State University.

The Governor’s Scholars Program is a 5 week summer residential program for outstanding high school students in Kentucky who are rising seniors. The Program originated in 1983 as a result of Kentucky leaders’ concern that the state’s “best and brightest” were leaving the Commonwealth to pursue educational and career opportunities elsewhere without fully understanding the potential of their talents at home. Students who are selected attend the Program without charge.

GSP participants are awarded scholarships at many universities due to their participation and completion of the 5 week summer program. Please visit this website to see some of those scholarships;  http://gsp.ky.gov/Applicants/Apply/Scholarships.aspx

Rachel Kimbell has also been selected to participate in the prestigious Commonwealth Honors Academy at Murray State University.

CHA is a three week academic, personal, and social development program for outstanding high school students in the summer after their junior year.

Students attending CHA receive the following benefits;
