On present course, future looks dim for mental health care providers
....fourteen (14) Community Mental Health – Mental Retardation Centers (CMHCs)  are the public safety net for Kentuckians needing mental health, addictions and intellectual & developmental disability services and supports. The CMHCs served over 179,000 individuals in FY ’11 – this represents approximately 1 out of every 25 Kentuckians.

 .... In addition to serving a huge number of our neighbors, we employ approximately 9,000 individuals in a wide array of positions from administrative to clinical to medical. Based upon data from the KY Chamber of Commerce, the CMHCs employ approximately 1 out of every 200 working Kentuckians... The future of the fourteen (14) CMHCs does not appear to be bright as costs continue to grow and revenue from our largest source most assuredly will decrease.

 in nine-county area over two years

The scholarships will benefit students attending the main campuses of the University of Pikeville (UPIKE) and Alice Lloyd College, or the extension campuses of Morehead State University (Prestonsburg), Lincoln Memorial University and Lindsey Wilson College and UPIKE.

Vote for Columbus Belmont State Park in Coke contest

(COLUMBUS KY - May 30, 2012) - Fans of Columbus Belmont Park have a chance to vote early and vote often in an online competition sponsored by Coca-Cola.

Park Manager Cindy Lynch urges everyone who loves the Park to participate in the third annual Coca Cola "America is Your Park" contest.

The park with the most votes will receive a $100,000 recreation grant from Coca-Cola. The second-place park will receive $50,000, and third place will receive $25,000. These recreation grants are provided to help restore, rebuild or enhance activity areas in parks where people can play and be active.

The deadline for voting is July 15, 2012.

Voting is easy. Visit www.livepositively.com/parks to earn one vote per click for your favorite Kentucky State Park. You can also vote by checking in from your favorite state park. More details are available by visiting the website.
