The budget submitted by Governor Bevin to the General Assembly, HB 200, will eliminate funding for the University Press of Kentucky. Without state support, the Press will be forced to close.

The University Press publishes Kentucky history, biographies, poetry, sports and Hollywood biographies. For a full list of titles, go to Kentuckypress.com

Small print run books don't make money but they have a valuable place in publishing. That's why university presses like the University Press are necessary to bring these to the public.

The state funds the program to the tune of $675,000. The Press earns some money but not enough to keep it open if the budget is unchanged.

Sen. Stan Humphries (R- Senate 1) and Rep. Steven Rudy (R- House 1) are key votes on the budget. To support the Press, call the LRC hotline 1-(800) 372-7181
