REQUIEM FOR AMERICA

From humble beginnings seeking the best of the Roman

Republic,

America became a beacon of light and hope for the world,

Where did it all go? Or is it gone?

If gone, has the light of liberty been extinguished?

The Congress decided to become the least democratic

place in America.

A wild, undisciplined, ego-driven one holds the reins of

Government.

War and nuclear holocaust is not far removed from thoughts.

Clean air, water, human health, all beings headed to "Silent

Spring."

These insidious trends bode ill for America and Earth.

All hopes for future generations dashed like an egg on a rock.

All for the sake of big money and corporate greed.

The recent rush to purchase citizen weaponry a sop,

Useless against the awesome power of the misnomer

"Citizens United" and a feckless leader's quest for riches.
