Lawrence files against Rudy
On Monday, Democrat Mike Lawrence threw his hat into the ring to try again to take the First District House seat away from Republican incumbent Republican Steven Rudy.

A Western Kentucky native, Mike has been married to Debby, a retired Ballard County teacher, for 35 years. The couple have two sons and two grandchildren.

Lawrence is a Vietnam veteran who received two Bronze Stars. He retired from the United States Army Reserve after 24 years of honorable service. Mike received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Education at Murray State University.  He served as a McCracken Circuit Court Clerk for several terms before retiring from that position.

Asked why he is running, Lawrence said, “The First Legislative District needs a legislator who cares about the people and will work hard to put them first. We are lacking a voice and leadership in Frankfort.”
