“ WE NEED ANOTHER CLINTON IN THE WHITE HOUSE”

-Jerry Lundergan Opens Paducah Hillary Clinton HQ

Jerry Lundergan came to Paducah on Monday evening with a message for the faithful. In his usual boisterous style, told a crowd of 100 Clinton supporters that to vote for Hillary Clinton was a “chance to make history”.  Lundergan said that his job is to deliver a biggest margin of victory in the Tuesday, May 20th primary-surpassing every other state.

To that end, he has been traveling the state from one end to the other. Paducah was the final stop on a day that started much earlier in Lexington. Lundergan told the crowd that he was phoning voters in the Indiana primary all the way down on his cell phone and planned to call all the way home. He urged the crowd to make similar calls. He said that CNN had Clinton closing in on Obama in North Carolina and was six points ahead of him in Indiana.

Lundergan announced to the crowd that every Democratic elected official he had spoken with signed on with the campaign. He told the crowd that Marshall County Judge Mike Miller had come on board. Miller was not at the opening, nor were any other county officials from the Purchase.

Lundergan said the Clintons love Kentucky and know that Kentucky loves them. He reminded the partisan crowd that the last stop in Bill Clinton’s first presidential campaign was BarkleyRegionalAirport in McCrackenCounty. He said Bill had called him and said they were coming back to Kentucky. In 2005, Mrs. Clinton raised $650,000 for the KDP during Lundergan’s term as Executive Committee Chair. Former President Clinton came and raised $700,000 a year later.

Hillary Clinton will be in Kentucky for a fundraiser on Friday, May 9th for another Kentucky Democratic Party fundraiser.

Lundergan said “Other people running were invited. They can’t find
Kentucky” in an obvious reference to Barack Obama,
Clinton’s only competitor.

Hillary has courage to stand up to Exxon Mobile, Lundergan said. She believes in clean coal technology and energy independence. Her energy policy is supported by Rep. Rocky Adkins, the Kentucky Democratic Floor Leader from Sandy Hook. (Adkins works for a coal company). Lundergan told the crowd that five million Americans will be put to work changing light bulbs in court houses, schools and hospitals to save energy.

Lundergan cited Clinton’s stance on education as the “best one anyone has presented.” She will spend 500 billion dollars on education. She will reduce college loan applications to one sheet of paper. She will provide free higher education for those who volunteer for Americorps.

On the Iraq War, Lundergan told the crowd that the past is the past. Clinton wants to move on and bring the troops home within sixty days of being sworn in. She has been endorsed by General Wesley Clark and other generals who support her plans for Iraq.

He promised that when she is elected the President and former President will both come to Kentucky.
