Governor Implements Ethics Reform
Governor Beshear today issued an executive order implementing changes in ethics laws designed to strengthen the laws.

The new policy incorporates some of the provisions that passed the House unanimously in the last session.
The ethics board will no longer get appointments solely from the governor's office. The Attorney General and State Auditor other elected offices will submit names.

Legal defense funds will come under scrutiny. Readers may remember that the former governor resisted releasing the names of donors to his fund. He eventually did release the names - but under prior law, he did not have to do so.

Ethics reform was one of the Governor's campaign promises.
