Governor Beshear makes appointment to Boards and Commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 29, 2011) – Governor Steve Beshear has made the following appointment to Kentucky boards and commissions: 

Gov. Beshear has appointed Janet A. Craig to the Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.

    Janet A. Craig, of Lexington, is an attorney with Stites and Harbison PLLC. The appointment replaces John W. Bizzack, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed LaVaughn M. Henry to the Kentucky State University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.

    LaVaughn M. Henry, of Hebron, is an executive with Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. The appointment replaces Wilbert W. James, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Deborah H. Long to the Morehead State University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.

    Deborah H. Long, of Lexington, is the owner of Dudley’s On Short. The appointment replaces Sylvia L. Lovely, whose term has expired.


Gov. Beshear has appointed Jenny L. Sewell to the Murray State University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.

    Jenny L. Sewell, of Dawson Springs, is the owner and director of Beshear Funeral Home Inc. The appointment replaces William C. Adams, Jr., whose term has expired.


Gov. Beshear has appointed Virginia G. Fox to the Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.

    Virginia G. Fox, of Frankfort, is retired. The appointment replaces Nancy B. Kremer whose term has expired.


Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2017:

    William C. Britton, of Louisville, is retired. The appointment replaces Penelope A. Brown, whose term has expired. 

    Clyde B. Akins, Sr., of Lexington, is a pastor at First Baptist Church Bracktown. The appointment replaces Dermontti F. Dawson, whose term has expired. 

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the University of Louisville Board of Trustees:

    Bruce M. Henderson, of PeeWee Valley, is an engineer and owner of Henderson Services LLC. The appointment replaces Salem M. George, whose term has expired. Henderson shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.

    Laurence N. Benz, of Louisville, is a physical therapist and CEO for PT Development LLC. The appointment replaces Mark E. Lynn, who has resigned. Benz shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2015. 

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Robert Curtis Hughes to the board to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.

·        Robert Curtis Hughes, of Murray, is a physician for Primary Care Medical Center. 

Gov. Beshear has appointed Cynthia Harris to the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017.

    Cynthia Harris, of Louisville, is a retired teacher. The appointment replaces Yevette Haskins, whose term has expired. 

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Board of Regents: 

    Robert G. Cooper, of Newport, is the vice president of public finance for Hilliard Lyons. The appointment replaces Johnna R. Fasold, whose term has expired. Cooper shall serve for a term expiring June 21, 2017. 

    Carolyn E. “Betsy” Flynn, of Murray, is the president, CEO and chair for Community Financial Services Bank. The appointment replaces Carl R. James, who has resigned. Flynn shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 21, 2016.
 

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education to serve for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2016:

    Joseph B. Wise, III, of Louisville, is the business manager for Louisville Building Trades.

    Dan E. Flanagan, of Campbellsville, is retired. 

    Glenn D. Denton, of Paducah, is an attorney with Denton and Keuler.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Kirby O’Donoghue to the board to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2012.

    Kirby O’Donoghue, of West View, is a graduate of Murray State University. She represents students at a state institution of postsecondary education. The appointment replaces Aaron A. Price, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Authority for Educational Television:

    Karl R. “Rusty” Cheuvront, Jr., of Louisville, is the director of community relations for Brown-Forman. The appointment replaces Timothy R. Coleman, whose term has expired. Cheuvront shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2015.

    Heidi S. Margulis, of Louisville, is the senior vice president of government relations for Humana Inc. The appointment replaces Thomas K. Elliott who has resigned. Margulis shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2013.
