Civil War to Cooking, Authors bring new books to the Arts Fair
 
This year’s Hickman County Arts, Crafts and Book Fair will host some old friends and some new friends when the Friends of the Arts hosts its 8th Arts, Craft and Book Fair at the Hickman Elementary Gymnasium on Saturday, December 1st. This 2012 show promises to be of a great opportunity for new books becoming “that special one of a kind gift to be opened on Christmas morning.” The authors are profiled below.

La Donna Latham-will sell her newest book, The Golden Age of Clinton. This the first book to ever document the early rise of the city of Clinton into a modern county seat and commercial center. Using original documents and family histories, Latham has captured the family aspect of local businesses that were born in the 1880’s up to 1910 in Clinton. This will make the special gift to all those on your list who enjoy local history.

Dorothy Nell Harper- books of poetry, including her newest, “The Power of Poetry” will be back. Dorothy Nell is now the Poet Laureate of the Jackson Purchase and as such is a powerful voice and role model example anyone who wants to express themselves through the imagery of poetry.
 
Hickman County Historical Society - "One -Two Room Schools of Hickman County" - a compendium of schools that are now gone. Also, two volume of newspaper abstracts, their cookbook and other  books with historical data.

Hickman County Museum - "Lick Skillet" by Virginia Jewell and the works of Dr. Jackson who lived in Clinton during the 1950’s through the1980’s.
 
Kenneth Tucker - "The Fall of the House of Spade", A Wilderness of Tigers", "The Madonna of Darkness and Shadows" and "A Kentucky Colonel in King Arthur's Court" and a revised edition of Ken’s study of gangster Al Capone.

Larry D. Krohn – Returning this year is Larry Krohn, of Princeton, Indiana.  His series of picture books featuring Patter the Paducah Mouse brought him to the Hickman County Arts, Crafts and Book Fair in 2006. He’s coming back to Clinton on December 1st with Patter stories to delight young readers.  Larry is a former teacher and coach. His daughter Sara is co-owner of the Badgett Theatre in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. 

Teresa Anne Hayden is a writer who lives in Cayce, Kentucky, with her husband Mike. Her story, “The Carpenter’s Son,” has recently been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: A Book of Miracles: 101 true stories of healing, faith, divine intervention, and answered prayers. This year, special to the fair, Teresa is offering for sale a new line of rosaries for special religious themes.

Eddie Price from Hawesville, Kentucky brings his newest book  “Widder’s Landing” (Acclaim Press) Historical fiction set in Western KY. during the War of 1812.

Linda Swift of Paducah will have 12 book titles to sell. Her books deal with historical fiction from the civil war to the Mary, Queen of Scots. For example, her “This Time Forever” tells the story of how the civil war came to middle Tennessee and the fortunes of one southern family coping with their antebellum mansion becomes a field hospital.

Pamela Whinnery, a traditional favorite at the show will be returning with her cookbooks about the rich and famous, “Favorite Recipes of Kentucky Celebrities.” The cookbook has over 300 recipes from local and national personalities.
