Was Hubbard Right About MSU?
Carroll Hubbard lost his bid to become senator from the First District to incumbent Ken Winter. But Hubbard can take some comfort in being right about Murray, Paducah and Murray State Universtiy.  Hubbard warned Calloway Countians at the October Women's Club Forum in Murray that Murray State was in danger of becoming Paducah's university. Hubbard told the crowd that Paducah always wanted a four year institution and would continue to work to move MSU there.

Saturday's Paducah Sun headlined a front page story "Future of university relies on Paducah".  The story quoted President Randy Dunn's plans to expand offerings in Paducah to attract nontraditional students who take classes when times get tough and students from Southern Illinois who will drive to Paducah, but not to Murray.  Reporter Leigh Landini Wright wrote that Dunn and other MSU officials would continue to talk with Paducah officials to determine their needs.

President Dunn recently got an unprecedented four year contract extension when the Murray State Board failed to take action on his employment.
