Now, in this year of 2021, I sit here trying to just exist in a new world that seems to be changing every 10 seconds. The old me has become the new me. I read more. I think more. I do art. I build models. I collect stamps.

Sometimes a dream is so big it pulls a whole county into it. Such was the dream Hickman County librarian Laura Poole envisioned for a children's museum in Paducah. Funding wasn't forthcoming so that the Paducah dream was shelved.

When Laura began working at the Hickman County Library in 2013, she again started thinking about the children's museum. This one would be part of the library she managed and open without charge. As the idea spread, help and helpers started coming.

PPS to follow Governor's Executive Order

Paducah Public Schools will begin the school year with a Level 3 COVID-19 mitigation strategy due to a surge of COVID cases due to the Delta variant. The Level 3 strategy follows Governor Beshear's Executive Order on August 10 requiring that all Kentucky public school students, staff, and visitors wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.

The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

Kentucky Receives $150,000 in Federal Funding to Preserve Three African American Historic Sites

Each Kentucky project will receive $50,000 to continue efforts to preserve these historical sites that represent African American history and culture in the commonwealth. The funding will enhance each project's ability to serve as a tourism attraction in its community. The historic sites that will receive funding in Kentucky are: Cherokee State Park (Kenlake State Park), Hotel Metropolitan (Paducah) and Palmer Pharmacy (Lexington)

Masks recommended indoors for all children under 12, unvaccinated Kentuckians 12 and older

...Governor recommended the following:

  • School districts should require all unvaccinated students and unvaccinated adults to wear a mask when in classrooms and other indoor school settings;
  • School districts should require all students under 12 years of age to wear a mask when in classrooms and other indoor school settings; and
  • School districts wishing to optimize safety and minimize risk of educational and athletic disruption should require all students and all adults to wear a mask while in classrooms and other indoor school settings.

At first, my mind did not register the fact that there was no water flowing. From the faucet, just a sound forming a cloud of nothingness. It took a whole 3 seconds for the enjoyment and good feeling from that first cup of coffee, to be blown away with the realization that there was no water. The well was not working.
